Hi there to all my creative peoples out there - I hope you are looking forward to what the rest of this year holds for us. I've decided that I'm done waiting around for whatever we are all still waiting for - and have just listed a few new classes that I have been asked to run in the lead up to the year nearing its end (thank goodness).
Twilight Ceramics returns with Daylight Savings
Firstly I will be running a 7-week Twilight Ceramics class for those that missed out on previous classes or would like to continue their creative ceramic journey. This round of classes will suit previous students who would like to learn some new techniques or absolute beginners who would like to give ceramics a try in a pretty chilled learning environment. I am always so surprised at what my students create - it's such fun to see how quickly my students develop their own styles from those tentative first lessons.
Beginners Painting Course - Acrylic Paints
I will also be running a 6-week Beginners Painting Course that is directed at students who would like to embark on discovering if painting might be their 'thing' or have wanted to begin but do not know where to start. I have developed this class to get your painting journey started. We begin with a blank canvas and together we work through the steps to get your ideas and imaginings onto that canvas and shaped into something. On the way you will learn some valuable lessons that will give you the courage and confidence to move forward and accept the challenge to become a creator. I have a fully equipped light-filled studio plus there will be kits available for those who require them.
Create a set of ceramic Christmas Trees
I have been asked to run this workshop by a number of my regular ceramic students. This is a two-day workshop that will be run over two Saturdays. In the first class we will craft the set of trees with surface decoration and molding to the tree form. We will allow that to dry and be fired and return to class to glaze and fire again ready for collection before Christmas.
Suitable for beginners or previous students. There is a clay and firing charge per student.
All the relevant information is listed on the Workshops page and please feel free to contact me via email if you have any queries. It's first in first served, so if these classes are what you've been waiting for - book your place now.
Over the past few months I have spent a lot of time on my own personal creative journey and have loved having the freedom to do so. I may have not have had as much freedom in many other ways - but I have enjoyed seeing my own art practices develop into new areas of discovery. However - as the days grow longer and the sun is appearing more regularly, I am looking forward to what's next. I have completed a large body of work this year, both paintings and ceramics - some of these pieces I am extremely proud of and know that I may not have had the time to devote to them in our previous world. I intend to enter a few of these pieces into local exhibitions - just to get myself out there - which is something I'm not really very good at, but I'm working on it.
I have also undertaken a wide range of online self-improvement art courses where I have been learning some fabulous new techniques from tutors all across the world. This has been an unexpected pleasure and again - one that I may not have discovered if I had been trapped on my hamster wheel of work and life. So life in the slow lane has had its advantages, and I'm definitely looking forward to sharing all these new skills I have learned.
Thank you all for reading this far and I hope I see you sometime soon.
Kay
